Supernatural!

I thought this was a good episode, all around. There was a lot of great Sam stuff (the number of times my heart broke for the boy, I cannot even begin to count). It moved the plot forward a bit, there was no Castiel, and Crowley was fantastically snarky and fabulous. I haven't decided whether or not I trust him yet, or, if so, to what extent. I feel like they're doing with him what they should have done with Ruby  (and almost succeeded with in season 3)- the whole, I'm a demon, and I don't like you, but we have similar enemies.

Also: "Oh, and the thing's I've heard." It's not nice to keep things to yourself, Crowley.

And "Lovers in league against the devil" will always be funny (and also always applicable to Sam and Dean. Can I get a icon of them with that text on it? Yes?)

It does seem like there is A LOT left to wrap up over the next two episodes, though.

tl;dr: Oh, Sam.

Related! I had a dream last night (technically this morning since I didn't go to sleep till 8 am and woke up at 1) about the season finale.

I don't remember much at this point. But Dean was married to Danneel and they had two kids - Super Fox and Spectacular Fox. But that turned out to be a weird dream. Danneel wasn't real, but the Fox children were, and also evil. Dean killed them. I was there, too, and I got to ride on a dragon.

Then, I exploded Dean's chest with my mind. But he didn't explode into blood, but exploded into grapes. I found my old id card in the mess and thought to myself, "Dean's torso is a really strange place to put something. No wonder I could never find this."

And Sam was a space captain or something.

In real life, I'm feeling emotionally and mentally better than I have been for awhile. I'm still sleeping at weird hours, and I have a cold, and I wrote half an e-mail to my dad at four in the morning because I had a sudden crisis of faith about the liberal project and the idea of man as a rational, moral being. But except for the cold, that's all pretty par the course, and I feel happy. \o/

Now for an icon meme!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

This is Ron and Harry hugging from A Very Potter Musical, which is a really excellent piece that you should go watch right now. I like it for a lot of reasons. The first being that one should always have a few good hugging icons. I especially like this one because it is, to me, platonic. I never shipped Harry/Ron (hardcore Hermione/Ron shipper, hi), so when I use this icon it means, 'I love, support, and sympathize with you in a way that is completely platonic and pure.' Unlike if I used my Sam/Dean hugging icon, in which case it would mean, 'I love, support, sympathize, and would also like to have sex with you.'

This icon has also helped me make and cement a few friendships, because AVPM is the kind of thing people bond over. It also reminds me of watching AVPM with my brother at 3 in the morning this summer. And that's a good memory. ♥

This is Sophie from Leverage. She's a grifter, and she's awesome. She is also the least popular character in Leverage fandom, but that's just because people don't understand Sophie is the HBIC. She's smart, talented, funny, interesting, beautiful, and kind. I love all the characters on Leverage, but I think all the hate she encounters in fandom propels her to be my favorite. Because I'm contrary like that.

Anna! My beloved. Anna is one of my favorite characters on Supernatural, for reasons to numerous to go into here. I have a few icons of her, but this one is specifically because [livejournal.com profile] familiardevil found it for me and has a matching Ruby icon. familiar and I, a long time ago, originally bonded over our mutual belief that Ruby/Anna would be a "super hot ninja pairing with knives." Neither of us have ever been the same since.

This is the mod icon familiar made me for [livejournal.com profile] spnland . She has a matching one. I use it for when I'm abusing my godly modly powers. We're Team God because obviously we rule over Team Hunter, Team Heaven, and Team Hell.

It's a pretty stock icon with strawberries in it. I like pretty stock icons and I LOVE strawberries. It seemed an obvious enough icon to have.

This is Sam from iCarly, which is a kid's/tween's show on Nick. I'm mostly aware of it because my little sister likes the show, and I like to watch with my little sister. Sam's a fun character, and the show is surprisingly okay for its genre. One of my favorite things is the friendship between Sam and Carly (the main character). It's a realistic and heart-warming friendship, (and, yes, I ship it, though I've only ever been able to find one good fic). I think, in general, these kinds of shows, for all they may not have the best writing or acting or whatever, do a much better job at displaying strong, female relationships than most primetime stuff for adults.

Then again, my perception may be skewed since I mainly watch Supernatural, and, no matter what your opinion of the show (and fandom's) misogyny may be, there are maybe five or six episodes of the entire series that pass the Bechdel test.

Anyway. End ramble. I like Sam, iCarly is a pretty good and femslashy show, and one always needs a good disgust icon.

Now, the icons from [livejournal.com profile] lavendergaia !

*g* Shockingly, [livejournal.com profile] lavendergaia and [livejournal.com profile] pada_something have similar tastes. One more thing about this icon: I remember bonding with lavender early on by spamming each other with AVPM quotes. So. Yeah.

(Minor spoilers for this season of Supernatural)

Amy and Matt are both very pretty, and make a very pretty icon together. On a less shallow note, I think Mary and John are both very fascinating characters, even if I don't always like them. I used to not really care about them as a ship, though, until certain recent revelations, which have turned me into a pretty hardcore shipper. Because I'm interested in what it means to be destined to love someone. How is that in any way different from being someone's true love or soulmate? We like to think of destiny as a passive thing, but I think the genius of SPN this season is showing that destiny is something which is created by active agents, who themselves may not even know the end. I really want someone to write a fic exploring Mary and John's relationships, and its various complications, but I'm not sure if anyone will ever step up to the plate.

I love this scene. I have two icons of this scene. I clung to this scene through an entire season of heartbreak. This scene is why I ship Sam/Dean in a nutshell. It's the way they look at each other; there's just so much love there. They're looking at each other like, "This is the most important person to me ever and of all time" because that's what they are to each other. And season 4 went on to prove that in the most brutal way possible by showing that when they couldn't (or wouldn't) rely and trust on each other, they both spiraled completely out of control, and took the world with them.

Danneel! She's hot! I'm shallow! Relatedly, I love Danneel (to the extent that you can love a person you don't actually know anything about except through fic). And I love when fic shows her as being tough, badass, fierce, and smart. ♥

Bela! I adore Bela. Because, well, *points up*. She's gorgeous, tough, badass, fierce, and smart. I thought she was an interesting character, and I liked that she expanded the supernatural world to more than just "good hunters" and "bad monsters." It makes sense that people like her would exist. I'm still sad and bitter that she died.

Because they're OTP, and one can never have enough icons of OTP. Also? The whole soulmates thing? Canon, bitches.

Oh, wow. My head hurts! /o\ NYQUIL TIME.
