Basically, Sam Winchester is my favorite person ever.
Like, more than Rahm Emanuel or Queen Elizabeth 1, he's my favorite person.
And this episode- for some reason I am still trying to figure out- only made that love stronger and deeper.
I dunno. Just. How badly he wanted to play poker and save Dean. D: And Dean being all, "No Sammy. You're bad at poker, etc, etc."
And then Sam actually won, by using his and Dean's epic love, and... I just. I love him, guys. Okay? He could spend the rest of the season kicking kittens and I would still love him.
Possibly this means I identify over much with Dean. It's the only possible explanation I can think of for my epic Sam-love. (Hi! I'm one of those people who believe Dean is the ultimate Samgirl and Sam the ultimate Deangirl.)
Moving on.
Guess what else I realized this episode?
I don't really find Bobby that compelling.
Wait. Wait. Before you kill me- I think Bobby is awesome. Actually, I don't think that. I know that. Bobby is awesome. Gravity works. Someday the sun will expand to such an immense size, it will swallow the Earth whole. Etc. Etc.
But, his angst? I just didn't care. Apparently, I only like Bobby when he's being awesome. When he's not being awesome, I'm kind of bored. (And come to think of it, I kind of felt that way about DaLDoM. Oh. Dead wife. How...sad.) But... I think I feel that way about a lot of non-Sam characters. Even Dean's angst, to a certain extent, is only interesting to me when it's about Sam.
....I admit I have a problem.BUT IF LOVING SAM IS WRONG, THEN I DONT WANT TO BE RIGHT.... That's what Dean said.
But, no. Boys were working together, using their Epic Love to trick the man-witch. (Who was very hot, imho. Though possibly I was just in love with his accent. <3333) Man-witch also made me miss the Trickster. And that made me wonder what would have happened if the Trickster met Bela. And how Bela would have been an awesome Trickster-protege and how they should have teamed up andfought crime wreaked delightful havoc on the Winchesters.
But that's neither here nor there. Point is, boys worked together. Working together failed. Dean (almost) died calling Sam's name, and Sam doesn't want to live if living is without Dean. And he's also a better poker player than everyone gives him credit for.
Also? "Cash these in for Dean please," was totally delivered as, "I CAN HAS BROTHERBURGER NAO PLZ"
And. Bobby was there. In a wheelchair. GOD. CAN YOU JUST ADMIT YOUR LOVE FOR BOBBY AND GO HEAL HIM NOW?
Oh. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I am totally digging the political jokes this season. Change you can believe in! John McCain! HEE! (And I really want Bobby elections fic, idek. Someone write that for me.)
Finally, my favorite part of the entire episode was:
"Your turn to pick up dinner."
"The usual?"
BOYS. BOOOOOOOYS. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYS. BACK ON TRACK AND WORKING TOGETHER. AND JUST. SO DOMESTIC AND COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER, AND IT JUST. EVERYTHING IS SHINY AND HAPPY AND NEW. *flails*
ETA: I forgot to mention: Dean: "I don't know if you've noticed, but me and Sam don't have much." YAY! DEAN SPEAKING ABOUT HIM AND SAM AS A UNIT. THERE IS NO DEAN WITHOUT SAM. NO SAM WITHOUT DEAN. *flails some more* codependentbrotherssaywhut?
Oh, and if anyone is interested, I still have one space open for drabble writing. So if you want me to write you a drabble (more of a ficlet, really, I'll be honest), just amble over to my previous post.
Those who already requested a drabble, you'll get themwhen I'm done with them and be grateful for it, dammit sometime this week.
IRL: I went to Target today, by myself. Which does not sound like that big of a deal, except this is the first time I've been a significant ways off campus without someone, and I figured out the public transportation on my own and everything. :D! *pins badge to chest* I ended up spending too much money. Most of it was necessary (like the pants I bought; all of the sudden all my pants were too large. Apparently I lost the freshman fifteen instead of gaining them?), but I also got a red peacoat WHICH I DIDNT NEED. But which I have already received several compliments on today. So.
Now I think I'll clean my room some and then go to Tea. (We have tea here every Friday; it's awesome.) Then it's Haunted House, kill a couple hours, swing dancing, bed, SPN mini-marathon, schoolwork, House party, Halloween party in city, questionable activities of questionable legality, bed, schoolwork, White Castle adventure, schoolwork. And that's my weekend plans in a nutshell. (Note: schoolwork also means, "Write fic and goof around on lj while pretending to do schoolwork.")
There were some other things I wanted to discuss, but they're more Serious and this has gone on long enough. So I'll end by asking you, "What's your favorite Halloween tradition? What Halloween tradition would you like to start?"
Have a good weekend, and a safe and happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate.

Moving on. For real this time.
This was a solid episode. Nothing earth shattering, nothing heart breaking, nothing omg! hilarious. Just... solid all around. Old man Dean was great, and very Dean. (Anyone know who the actor was?)
"You're adorable." "And dangerous!" <--- Best description of Dean Winchester ever.

"And Sammy? Don't lose." DEEEEEEEEAN. DEEEEEEEEEEEAN. The delivery on that line was perfect. My heart, idk. It did weird things to my heart. (The fact that man-witch kept referring to Dean as "your big brother" did weird things to my heart too.)
"When it's about your brother, you get so emotional your brain flies right out the window." Oh, Sam. <3 This is true, but it's also not true, and that's what I love about our boys. <3
