So, I haven't seen the episode yet. (And weirdly, it seems like familiardevil and I are accidentally trading off when it comes to episodes lately. She didn't watch My Bloody Valentine. I didn't catch Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. She missed Dark Side of the Moon. And I was drawing naked women on a friend instead of watching 99 Problems.)

However, I've been skimming reactions, and it seems to me...

...that season four was the season when a lot of people were pissed at Sam. And now season 5 is when a lot of people are pissed at Dean. I don't know what that means. But I think it's important. Next week, I predict, will be Dean's "When the Levee Breaks." I also don't think any of this means Dean loves Sam any less, just like I don't think Sam loved Dean any less all through last season. They both have the right to screw up and be confused and eventually the other one will bang on the door and shout his brother's name, and that'll be the only sound they'll hear.

But really. Seriously. Lisa? Lisa? No one, and I mean no one, ships Dean/Lisa. And I still don't think Ben is Dean's son.

In conclusion: RUM.

I haven't watched this episode yet but I spoiled myself and now I don't want to. I kind of cannot be bothered with all the angst. *is a bad fan*

I've been thinking lately that I am just so dreadfully brored and over Dean's angst.

And then I watched AHBL 1 & 2 tonight, and no. </3 I'm not over Dean's angst. I'm just over the "haaay Dean haaay you're so broken inside!" angst. Come on, show. I know you have it in you. BE THE SHOW YOU WERE WHEN WE MET.

dean only pissed me off a few times this season, but i completely think there will be some kind of symmetry in the finale, with sam "saving" dean and redeeming himself for his actions in s4.

at least i hope that's what happens.

I love this post. That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. They really seem to be drawing very obvious parallels to season 4. I only hope that it won't end the same way. *worries* And YES, I'm so sick of hearing all this Dean hate and you summed everything up there perfectly. With the stuff these boys go through, it's no wonder they fall so hard. But they'll always come back to each other in the end and that's all that matters. ♥

Ugh. That scene. D: I understand why they did it, in a way, but wtf that was SO RANDOM. Like suddenly it's just like BAM, LOOK IT'S LISA and I bet like half the audience forgot about her already by now. *sigh* And yeah, Ben as Dean's son? DNW.

while i completely agree with your post (like seriously, soooo true!), i cannot bring myself to be angry with Dean. It must really REALLY suck to be the vessel of heaven, especially when your brother is supposed to be the vessel of Satan.

about the whole Lisa thing - i had forgotten about her and no, i don't ship Lisa/Dean, but I actually "liked" the Lisa scene. It wasn't the Lisa part i liked, I honestly couldn't care less. but what Dean said... the determination he showed... apparently there are somethings in his world still worth fighting/sacrificing for and that made me happy/sad/tear up lol

oh, and Castiel was HILAAAAARIOUS in 99 Problems. Just sayin.

SUPERNATURAL HOW I LOVE THEEEEEE

Same here but I still don't get why Dean wants to say yes all of a suddent. I mean, are you apathetic about the whole stuff? then be it completely and just wait for events to come up. Saying YES is not "I don't care" is making a decision.

Also, I agree, LISA? WTF???!!

Except this time, Sam will actually save Dean, IMO. They owe him that much, FFS.

blah Dean/Lisa was cheesy and not even 100% believable.

And yes, I totally agree with you on that.

I think the writers went to lunch with the final scene unwritten, and Eddie the Intern decided to try his hand and sent it off to the producers.

*sigh* I love left field twists, but they should leave you going "Woaahhhhh!" not WTF.

LOL Re Dean/Lisa as someone was saying bendy sex weekend =! true wuv. But then there's the kid involved and that added a haphazard connection to the deadbeat dad issues that keep popping up. I think regardless of how they denied Ben being his kid, they'll probably retcon it for maximum angstage.

It still came out of nowhere is badly done, but at least its a somewhat logical endpoint, I guess.

Good point about Dean, that makes me feel a little better. I like thinking that they might be pursuing a more even depiction of both of them. It was awfully one-sided with Sam for a while.

More than anything, Dean is exhausting to watch this season. He's like one of those "Where does depression hurt?" commercials that make me just want to die. And not in an angsty way that I enjoy.

Also, I really, really think the Lisa thing was better in context and did not think Dean/Lisa was a ship the show was trying to push. I have many thoughts about the whole thing. To me, it wasn't about Dean/Lisa.

However, minus Lisa, I think this is exactly where we were always headed (since the end of season 3, at least). So, take my opinions with a grain of salt, perhaps. :P

IK,R??

Sam's kinda gone over his quota of emo-ness for the series. But last season was all about "Sam has issues. Boohoo Dean is dying and Sam is sad." This season is more about Dean's issues, so I guess it was his turn to be emo...

But Cas. Oh Cas. I <3 Misha Collins SO MUCH.

I hate Dean in a way that is temporary. Like [livejournal.com profile] wutendeskind said, he's just getting too depressing to watch for much longer. But I mean, we only have a few episodes left in the season, so everything should... you know, pick up and get plottier and hopefully Sam'n'Dean will save the world and everything will be awesome again.

FUCK YOU SO HARD I SHIP DEAN/LISA.

I have this ~~theory~~ that John is Ben's father.

Hmm. Hey, but at least one of you was watching and can catch you up. If one half of the brain fails, the other succeeds! As we have learned many a time.

Well, tbqh I didn't have an issue with Lisa. I wouldn't necessarily 'ship' Lisa/Dean. But I liked her a lot as a character and kind of had a moment like 'Dean scored /this/ chick at one point? Impressive' and not because of how pretty she was, but because I liked her personality quite a bit. :] But that's just me, I'm sure.

Also, I didn't watch it because I found out /after/ I'd downloaded it that it didn't have Adam in it, just Ash. Still might track down the scene with Ash and watch it eventually. But I did hear around the flist quite a bit that apparently it was a really great relationship/character development episode for Sam & Dean? Like apparently they both really finally managed to /understand/ why the other felt and acted the way they did? And so on. Or something. Hell, even Lottie was pleased with it, as far as I can remember. But I'm still pretty detached from the whole thing so who knows. xD;;;
