the way it's night for many miles
Nov. 11th, 2009 02:45 pmTwo posts in the same afternoon? D:
But oh well. I FEEL LIKE SPREADING SOME LOVE.
Meme stolen from

Comment here and I will tell you why I like/love you.
Even if we don't talk much, heck even if we have NEVER spoken, I want EVERYONE to participate. If you want to share the love and do the same at your journal, go ahead. You're under no obligation to carry it on if you comment here.
Go on everyone needs more love in their life.
I've got class in ten, but when I get back, I'll have lots of love to spread around. <3
And have a poem:
Meanwhile
Driving, dogs barking, how you get used to it, how you make
the new street yours.
Trees outside the window and a big band sound that makes you feel like
everything's okay,
a feeling that lasts for one song maybe,
the parentheses all clicking shut behind you.
The way we move through time and space, or only time.
The way it's night for many miles, and then suddenly
it's not, it's breakfast
and you're standing in the shower for over an hour,
holding the bar of soap up to the light.
I will keep watch. I will water the yard.
Knot the tie and go to work. Unknot the tie and go to sleep.
I sleep. I dream. I make up things
that I would never say. I say them very quietly.
The trees in wind, the streetlights on,
the click and flash of cigarettes
being smoked on the lawn, and just a little kiss before we say goodnight.
It spins like a wheel inside you: green yellow, green blue,
green beautiful green.
It's simple: it isn't over, it's just begun. It's green. It's still green.

*g* Now onto the love!

Date: 2009-11-13 08:50 pm (UTC)And considering she has red hair and huge eyes that's quite an accomplishment xD
Although I should probably re-watch season 4 since I don't really remember her all that much...
You see, I have this thing. Fanfiction makes me love characters. It made me love Bobby and Ellen and Jess (I didn't care for Jess at all when I watched the show for the first time.) and I even like Jo and Ruby occasionally.
If the story is good I will read pretty much everything. (I'm easy like that ;) )
Hmmmm... Castiel/Anna in canon would be interesting. (I don't think it will actually happen though, what with the whole "family-thing" the've got going on at the moment...)
Ooooh, Zooey is gorgeous! *O* And she does look like Cas! :D
(But she also looks very skinny. ÓÒ *is the kind of person who wants to wrap people in nice warm blankets and feed them cake*)
Thanks so much for the pictures! :D (Is the movie any good?)
Aaah, sorry, I guess I'm feeling rambly today...

Date: 2009-11-13 11:08 pm (UTC)Plus I think the actress who plays her- Julie McNiven- is gorgeous.
On the matter of falling, I think there's some interesting meta about Anna, Castiel, and Uriel. Who were all "teammates" in a sense, but who all fell. It would be interesting to look at why each of them fell, and what that says about them and the angel arc of the show in general.
Yeah, I thought Castiel/Anna was gonna happen. (There are some pretty good betrayed/longing looks on Castiel's part in, um, Heaven and Hell). But now that they're playing up the family angle, maybe not so much. ):
I like characters in canon, and then seek out fic on them. If I don't like them in canon, then I'm likely to avoid fic. XD I'm a bad person that way.
*g* She is skinny. But she's also so gorgeous. And Almost Famous is really good! Not one of my favorites, but definitely worth checking out.
lol No problem. You weren't the only one feeling rambly.

Date: 2009-11-14 11:50 am (UTC)I can't say that I disliked On the Head of a Pin I liked the darkness of it and I have a strange fondness for the actor who plays Alastair and I think it's the episode which started Castiel's mistrust towards his superiors.
Dean was the best thing about that episode though... He was so very broken... *is rewatching the "Highlights" on Youtube*
And you're right, that line where Anna killed Uriel! BADASSERY! xD
I don't approve of Uriel being killed off though, he was a great character and I would have liked to see more of him... :/
Hmmmm... You really got me thinking about that falling-thing...
It's curious that they all fell for such different reasons, isn't it?
Uriel because he hated humans, Castiel because he loved (one) human(s) (but doesn't necessarily want to be like them) and Anna because she wanted to be human. (I don't know about loving them... From what I can remember she loved the act of being human but I don't think she loved humanity the way Castiel does. Maybe that's just not possible once you've been human... Just remember how bitter Castiel was in In the End.
Ooooh man, there's so much more I want to clarify and discuss but I'll stop now since this comment is getting waaaay too long. (ARRRGGHHH!)
One more thing: Chocolate Cake! :D
Do you have any good Anna fic I could check out?

Date: 2009-11-14 11:39 pm (UTC)Also, they killed off Uriel who was, as you say, a great character. But I don't hold that against Anna, I hold that against the writer.
And yeah, Anna. I just get really attached to certain characters. XD
On the falling thing- I'm not convinced Castiel did fall because he loves Dean/humanity. It always seemed to me that he fell because he loved God, and he realized, during Lucifer Rising, that the angels weren't doing God's work. I know he has that line to Dean that "I did it all for you" but my reading was he sees Dean as being a warrior of God, so by helping Dean, he's really doing God's works.
And I think Uriel fell for a similar reason. Because he could no longer find God. And if God wasn't there, that meant he'd been betrayed by his superiors and everything he thought was true. So I can see why he fell.
lol. Now I'm leaving a rambling comment.
So, really, what you should get from all this, is that I would love to discuss the motivations/fallings of the various angels with you. <3
And this is a pretty good Anna/Castiel fic. Even if the author spells "Sammy" wrong. >

Date: 2009-11-15 11:03 am (UTC)I think I get it now. You don’t think of On the Head of a Pin as a bad episode because of bad writing (except Uriel’s death), acting etc. but because it addressed all those issues the characters had/have with themselves and each other.
Yeah, the ending was heartbreaking. You’re completely right about it highlighting the fact that the bond between Sam and Dean is drastically damaged. However, I also think that showing this (for instance Dean saying that he doesn’t know if he can trust Sam anymore this season) is the first step towards the boys building a new relationship between them. Because, let’s face it, they were destroying each other (and that’s just not something I can endure. So if breaking up is what it takes, so be it. I just want them to be at least somewhat happy with each other. :) )
I think that it touched you that much actually made it a good episode, maybe not one you’d like to see again but good non the less.
I have some thoughts about the torture thing as well :) :
Honestly, I think of the angels a bit like of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages.
Their view on torture as a legitimate measure to gather information (which it obviously isn’t) and also that whole sacrificing people for the greater good theme seem to belong to another (thankfully long past) time. Where the demons adapted to the modern cunningly using lies (and sometimes truths) to get what they want, the angels seem to be stuck on long outdated brute force. (This is one of the reasons why I don’t think the angels could actually win the war without having some seriously impressive secret weapon, namely Michael. And even with him on their side I’m not too certain the victory will be theirs.)
In my opinion, Dean didn’t go along with it because of the information but because he wanted revenge. Alastair was the one who got him to give in and torture in the first place. But he also knew that with torturing again he would go back to being the monster Alastair made him into. This is what scared him, what made him say that Castiel wouldn’t like what came out of that room if he made Dean go in. (I don’t think Castiel understood this, maybe the different emotions where too complicated or too human for him but I’m pretty sure he thought Dean was afraid of Alastair and nothing more.)
(And those other occasions Dean/Sam tortured – honestly, I can only think of Meg now, sorry ^^°° - they were white-hot angry and it was always about family, the one thing they don’t seem to have a moral-code about.
Castiel:
I actually changed my opinion a bit while writing but the comment was already (or already was? Could you tell me which one’s right? ^^°°) enormous and I didn’t know how to say it anyway…
I came to a similar conclusion as you did but with one tiny difference. For a little while (at least in those last episodes of season 4) Dean was Castiel’s substitution for God. Castiel didn’t know what to believe anymore, he was at least somewhat certain that the other angels weren’t making the right choices and God wasn’t there anymore so he turned to Dean (somewhat of a knee-jerk reaction) and did what he thought Dean was asking of him.
I’m pretty sure with Dean “failing” to stop the apocalypse he lost that certain faith again and started to look for God instead. (He probably wouldn’t have started to look for Him if Dean had been able to stop Sam.)
So yeah, Castiel cares for Dean but maybe love is too strong a word. (If an angel can even love in the human sense of the word)
Castiel’s not doing God’s work by helping Dean but Dean simply is the next best thing for him to believe in. (which sounds more heartless that it probably is since at least he cares for Dean on a personal level beyond the his “weapon-status”.)
Hmmmm… I think we saw to little of Uriel to really be able to tell his motives but I think he might have fallen for similar reasons Lucifer once did. (Not the loving God too much but the not understanding how such imperfect creatures like humans could be worth more of the Lord’s love than he. And like Lucifer he wanted to take others down with him.)
Awwww, I would love that too! <3 (+ Now I have a reason to re-watch season 4! xD)
Thanks for the fic, going to read it now! :D
