She is engaged to Jared Padalecki.

And I- I think that's absolutely wonderful.

Genevieve seems like a sweet girl, and she and Jared deserve every happiness, both personally and professionally. I don't think their relationship was too short. I don't think they don't know each other well enough. I don't think they're making a huge mistake. But I do think fandom's reaction to the news is part of the reason Gen and Jared have been so leery about being open about their relationship.

Relationships are odd. Even when you know the two people involved, it's impossible to determine how the relationship is going to work out. And to decide whether or not two people who you don't even know are making a huge mistake and not actually in love not only strikes me as ridiculous, but also hugely distasteful. I don't know Genevieve or Jared. I don't know how their relationship works. I do know that love is a funny thing. I do know that they're engaged, and I do wish them great joy and much luck.

To that end, while I respect your right to your opinion, there will be no bashing of Genevieve or Jared or their relationship in my journal. (This also applies to Jensen and Danneel, but fandom, being fandom, has decided that that relationship is okay, so I don't think it's going to be a problem.) No, "I don't mind Gen, but I wish he'd married Sandy!" No, "But they haven't known each other long enough!" No, "But I'm just worried about Jared!" Nothing. Nada. Zip.

I can't (and probably shouldn't) control fandom, but my journal is my place. Jared and Genevieve deserve better than to have their relationship ripped apart by strangers.

ETA: While I am ~sharing~ my opinion with the internet, I think a sixth season of Supernatural would be absolutely fucking awesome. \o/

I don't completely agree with everything you've said here, but I think all the open bashing has been pretty lame. I haven't said anything mostly because I have nothing celebratory to say (I like Gen, I just...look, Sophia and her puppies are lonely okay? :P). But all the bitching...people just need to get over it. It'll happen or it won't and nothing we can say is going to change that, so...get over it, people.

Right. I know people won't agree with everything, but my mom and dad had a relationship that, to the outside observer, seemed unlikely to survive. But they're still sickeningly in love 25 years later, so it seems silly to me that fandom- as outside observers- think they can judge Gen and Jared's relationship.

But, really, this is kindergarten, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. ;P

I'm excited for them! I don't like Genevieve as an actress, but that has absolutely nothing to do with her as a person and I really, really hope she and Jared are very happy.

As for sixth season... I'm on the fence. I haven't been happy with this season of SPN, and I'm afraid another season would just drag it down further, especially if they dragged out the apocalypse.

Honestly, I liked KC much better as Ruby, but Gen really seems like a sweet girl, and whatever people feel about her ability to act should have no bearing on how they perceive her as a person.

I'm the opposite. Season 4 is absolutely my least favorite season, but I LOVELOVELOVE season 5 so far. I don't think s6 would be dragging out the apocalypse either- Kripke's actually said S6 would be a return to a more intimate (his word, not mine) storyline. And I would a season that really was about the boys healing and fixing the world, as opposed to just saving it.

Oh, I loved season four! I liked season five (and to be fair, it has gotten better), but when we got crap like Fallen Idols and the convention episode, I was not impressed. I miss monster-of-the-week as much as the next person, but this season is not the time or place for that, and I guess that's just what bugs me the most. I really hope we get back on track after the break. But if season six got back to how season one and two were, with a bonus Castiel on the side, I'd probably be okay, as long as there was some rhyme and reason in it somewhere.

Heh. I liked Fallen Episodes and I adoredThe Real Ghostbusters (aka the convention one.) But S4 leaves me cold. It has some great episodes- like After School Special. But it also has the only episode of SPN I actually dislike- On the Head of a Pin. I'm very much into SPN for the brothers, and the angel sideplot has always seemed to detract from that to me.
