She is engaged to Jared Padalecki.

And I- I think that's absolutely wonderful.

Genevieve seems like a sweet girl, and she and Jared deserve every happiness, both personally and professionally. I don't think their relationship was too short. I don't think they don't know each other well enough. I don't think they're making a huge mistake. But I do think fandom's reaction to the news is part of the reason Gen and Jared have been so leery about being open about their relationship.

Relationships are odd. Even when you know the two people involved, it's impossible to determine how the relationship is going to work out. And to decide whether or not two people who you don't even know are making a huge mistake and not actually in love not only strikes me as ridiculous, but also hugely distasteful. I don't know Genevieve or Jared. I don't know how their relationship works. I do know that love is a funny thing. I do know that they're engaged, and I do wish them great joy and much luck.

To that end, while I respect your right to your opinion, there will be no bashing of Genevieve or Jared or their relationship in my journal. (This also applies to Jensen and Danneel, but fandom, being fandom, has decided that that relationship is okay, so I don't think it's going to be a problem.) No, "I don't mind Gen, but I wish he'd married Sandy!" No, "But they haven't known each other long enough!" No, "But I'm just worried about Jared!" Nothing. Nada. Zip.

I can't (and probably shouldn't) control fandom, but my journal is my place. Jared and Genevieve deserve better than to have their relationship ripped apart by strangers.

ETA: While I am ~sharing~ my opinion with the internet, I think a sixth season of Supernatural would be absolutely fucking awesome. \o/

Heh. I liked Fallen Episodes and I adoredThe Real Ghostbusters (aka the convention one.) But S4 leaves me cold. It has some great episodes- like After School Special. But it also has the only episode of SPN I actually dislike- On the Head of a Pin. I'm very much into SPN for the brothers, and the angel sideplot has always seemed to detract from that to me.

They were fine on their own (I mean, I could talk about what I liked and didn't like about them all day), but they just felt SO out of place. I wanted to get back to the point. I really like On the Head of a Pin, but I also really like the angels and their business; it's why I like season four so much, I think. To me it brought Supernatural to an entirely new level, and I really like that level. Plus (and here's where I'm stoned by crazy fans), Castiel has become my favorite character. I love Sam and Dean and all, but Castiel is just so much more interesting to me (because he's fresh meat, I think, and not the same old screwed up issues we keep seeing over and over). The brothers are the core of the show, and I love them for that, but they can't ever seem to go forward and I can only be patient with that for so long.

I agree there has been some rehashing of the brothers' issues, but I really think there has been movement and closure on that front. I'm thinking especially of Fallen Idols.

Castiel, tbqh, doesn't really interest me beyond his ability to provide exposition. I didn't like or trust him last season (and a lot of his actions angered me), and this season it feels like the writers are using him mainly as comic relief. They don't really have a good grasp on him.

That's true, but their bit in Fallen Idols felt entirely too slapstick to me.

I like his potential more than what's actually happened in the show, I guess, but I'm also really interested in his interactions with Dean, their chemistry (the season four finale, in particular, because dang), and how they can relate to each other. I don't like how the writers have treated him lately, though I guess it has been some fun to raise a few issues (an angel in a brothel stirs up all kinds of trouble).

But yes, to each her own. I'm just excited for the 21st because it looks like that episode is going to be intense. I'll be disappointed if it's not (I remember getting super excited for that episode where people were getting calls from the dead because the promo was amazing, but IMO that was a snooze fest).

While I'm not really interested in the angels as they currently exist and interact in SPN, I am interested in their backstory. I'd love to read fic about Anna and Castiel and Uriel in Biblical times. Angel backstory would be amazing.

They are also invited (as is Lucifer). I just think Uriel, Castiel, and Anna would be of particular interest since they were in the same garrison and have so much history.

Yeah. I can't remember if it was actually stated or if it was just something I decided/came to a conclusion about on my own, but Uriel and Castiel always seemed especially close, despite their opposing views, and I think it would be beyond wonderful to get a glimpse of why that was (the "funniest angel in the garrison" line always gets me). The idea of those three before "Sam and Dean" is just so interesting.

I always thought the same as well. It would make sense. They worked together as partners, and they had literally thousands of years to build that partnership.
