What the hell, self? I just realized I wrote the word "Marxian" instead of "Marxist" in my essay. How one presents a Marxian critique, I don't really know. But I assume it has to do with communist Martians.

Possibly this is a sign I've been up too long. But I have hammered out two rough drafts today! Yay! That means I have to pretty those two up, study for my only actual test, and write the last and longest of the essays. The fourth essay has already been turned in, and I aced my presentation on Tuesday. :D

So I may survive finals after all! Even though my laptop has broken. Again. 

This broken laptop thing is swiftly becoming a finals tradition.

But I shall just camp out in the study lounge and use the computers there. Oh yes, I will.

I woke up yesterday morning, saw that it was raining pretty hard, muttered, "Why does God hate me?" and then rolled over and fell back asleep for a few hours. 

I'm not sure why that was my reaction, but then, you know, my laptop, so maybe there was something to my question after all.

My working theory is that s/he/it is just jealous of my pretty, pretty hair.

The Art Festival what I've been helping to put together since January went spectacularly. I feel like I mentioned this in my drunk post. I feel like it bears repeating. Why are they putting me in charge of it next year?

I head home Saturday. I WILL BE DONE WITH MY FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE HOLY CRAP. I'm taking the train home though, so that's exciting. 50 hour cross country train trip! EEEE! I will resemble a smelly hobo by the end, no doubt.

It is a long time! Which makes sense considering Chicago is about 2000 miles away from the nearest city to my hometown. (And it's a two hour drive from that city to home.) BUT OH WELL. It will either be a great experience or an awful one.

And, wow. 8 hours. D: I've spent longer car rides within the same state. AMERICA IS BIG, YO.

DUDE two drafts?? YOU ROCK. I wrote a crappy five-pager and finished editing poems... and am still up till 5:35 am.

I swear Marxian is a real word, somehow different from Marxist. WIKIPEDIA SAYS:
Adherents of Marxian economics, particularly in academia, distinguish it from Marxism as a political ideology and sociological theory, arguing that Marx's approach to understanding the economy is intellectually independent of his advocacy of revolutionary socialism or his belief in the proletarian revolution.

To be fair, I've spent the last two days just thinking about the essays. So I needed to redeem myself with a burst of productivity. And they also both solidified in my head yesterday, which always makes writing a million times easier.

\o/ YES CLEARLY I AM A GENIUS. Even though Marxian, by that definition, still makes no sense in the context of my essay.

I think most of what we do here in college about Marx is Marxian rather than Marxist - Marxian is using the theories and problems and whatever he came up with to critique political economy and capitalism, but Marxist goes that one step further and believes that communism is the solution.

Ooohhhh I actually had that happen - it disconnected from the motherboard inside. Cost me $200 to get fixed, I didn't want to get another laptop, this one is gonna last me four years dammit, knock on wood. But it is possible to fix. or, you know, could just buy a new laptop and get someone to transfer the harddrive info.

Finals are being survived, although I don't know if "well" is quite the word. I'd vote for sometime Friday evening, maybe? I probably wouldn't be able to hang out all night because I have to load a car and drive home Saturday, but that is probably for the best anyway. 50 hours?! I can't even imagine that. I once went to Avignon by coach and the 900km took 12 hours. But FIFTY HOURS? You can travel from Northern Germany to the Mediterranean Sea and back again a couple of times in fifty hours. o.Ô
