OH HAY. BACK FROM CAMP. HAD A BLAST. SLEPT LIKE FOUR OR FIVE HOURS A NIGHT.  AM EXHAUSTED.   HEARTBROKEN OVER WORLD CUP.  HAVE STARTED WATCHING AMERICAN MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER. HAVE WRITTEN OVER 4000 WORDS SINCE COMING HOME.[Poll #1588493]

My argument: Remus/Sirius.

Both have awful childhoods. As a couple (if you accept that they're a couple), they're broken apart by distrust during a time in which all their friends are dying, spend most of their adult lives alone- one as a prisoner in Azkaban, the other poverty stricken and ostracized by society, only, after being briefly reunited, to both die relatively young. Sam/Dean, at least, still have the possibility of a happy ending, and, since they're the heroes of their text, are pretty likely to get that happy ending.

[livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte  's argument: Sam/Dean (as summarized by me! So possibly unfair/limited. Let me know if you want to add/rewrite anything bb)

Fucking your brother isn't a happy ending. At least Remus and Sirius end up in an afterworld that is posited as being pretty cool and happy. Sam and Dean's  lives are unremittingly bleak and tragic. Neither of them have a childhood, every time they have something good, it's ripped away from them. They're forced to watch the most important person in their life (each other) die or betray them again and again. Also? the S5 season finale.

ALSO. I HAVE JUST REALIZED, TONKS=LISA, TEDDY=BEN. SIRIUS WANTED REMUS TO HAVE A CHANCE AT HAPPINESS. *flail* *spazz*

THIS. THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYING. REMUS AND SIRIUS JUST DIE. ): AND MAYBE THE AFTERLIFE IS COOL AND ALL THAT. BUT STILL. DEAD.

And Sam and Dean are totally going to have a happy ending. I just know it. *believes*

YES, and omg don't get me started on all the years of rotting away in Azkaban Sirius had to endure :( HIS TEETH WERE RUINED as were his dashing good looks lol okay now I'm just being shallow, but FOR SRS, even 12-year-old me thought it was the most tragic thing EVER for Sirius to be locked away like that after having his best friend murdered by his other friend and all the while thinking his boyfriend did it :'''(

... Just realized Dean was in HELL for forty years which I guess kinda makes Azkaban seem like a cake walk, buuuuut Show has done a really shitty job of showing us the true effects of surviving Hell so, uh. Yeah. BASED ON CANON, Sirius/Remus is a million times more tragic than Sam/Dean. Because the SPN canon is all over the place (thanks to lazy writing and retcon) whereas HP all comes from JKR's glorious brain.

BUT if we were going to bring fandom into it... Man idk. Sam/Dean fics make me cry like no other ;_;

Yeah, I was thinking about the whole Hell/Azkaban thing. But at least Dean is shown as healing/overcoming/not really remembering that. Sirius is just, pretty much a year after thinking he's free, imprisoned in the house of all his awful childhood memories. So he never gets the chance to heal that Dean does.

for Sirius to be locked away like that after having his best friend murdered by his other friend and all the while thinking his boyfriend did it

*weeps forever*

There's just so much about Remus and Sirius that is tragic because of what could have been. They could have been happy; but the world is determined to not let them be so. Whereas Sam and Dean can only exist in a very specialized set of circumstances that is already tragic. And, to me, that wasted possibility and opportunity of happiness is even more tragic. ):

Yesssss EXACTLY, that's what it is! It's the tragedy of knowing what could have been ;_______; Like, yeah, they were happy in their Marauder days, but it was so fleeting and short and then twelve years of crushing isolation followed by just ONE YEAR of being together (but not really 'cause Remus had to go off and do Important Things while Sirius moped around under house arrest) and then a;dkfa;lsd;alskdglhk FUCK YOU, ROWLING ;______;

YES. YES. And then Sirius is killed by a curtain of all things. A CURTAIN. And Remus doesn't even have the chance to grieve, because he has to be strong for Harry and go fight a war and laghfkasgdfj

ROWLING WHY DID YOU CRUSH MY FIFTEEN YEAR OLD HEART SO?
